Notice to clients and prospective clients:

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not bill insurance directly, so I am considered an out-of-network provider.

If you have out-of-network insurance benefits, I can provide you an itemized receipt called a “Superbill” that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept payment from all major credit card companies including HSA (health savings account) cards and FSA (flex savings account) cards.
What is your cancellation policy?

Any changes or cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance; otherwise, the full fee will be charged.

The first cancellation within a 6-month period will be waived if due to illness or emergency.

A “no-show” is considered a late cancellation, and the full fee will be charged.

How do I know if I need therapy?
I don’t believe that everyone needs therapy, but I do believe that everyone can benefit from it. If you’re experiencing challenges or struggles that you’ve tried to solve on your own but don’t seem to be improving, therapy could help.
How is therapy different from just talking to a friend or family member?

A licensed psychotherapist has had years of advanced training with thousands of hours studying the human mind, behavior, and relationship dynamics. They are specialists in the field and are trained to listen to you differently and ask you strategic questions in ways that other people cannot.

Friends and family members have personal relationships with you, and that means they have biases and reactions that they may not be able to control. They may often tell you what you want to hear versus what you need to hear.

Therapists are trained to be objective and neutral. I will not blindly agree with you.

People often feel more comfortable sharing their concerns with a therapist because they are outside of their inner circle.

What type of therapy do you practice?

My therapy approach is a marriage between Solution-Focused Therapy and Existential Therapy. The Solution-Focused approach is concrete and goal-driven. The Existential approach is philosophical and meaning-driven.

My work with clients is strengths-based, present and future focused, action-driven and meaning-centered. I always tailor treatment plans specific to the unique personality, history and needs of the client.

What will the first session be like?

During your initial visit, we will discuss what is bringing you to therapy, what you hope to get out of the experience, and how you will know that therapy is helping you.

When you’re first starting therapy, it’s common not to know where to start. You might have a lot to say or not know what to say. Don’t worry: I can take in a lot of information and help you prioritize pretty quickly. We will focus on one concern at a time. If you don’t know what to say, I will guide you.

After the initial visit, if we feel like we are a good fit, we can schedule future sessions.

How long will I need to be in therapy?
That is uniquely individual, but the goal is to help you feel better as soon as possible.
What is your educational background, credentials, training?

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Mount St. Mary’s University and my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy at Pepperdine University. I am licensed in the state of California as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (#97501) and qualified to provide clinical supervision to Associate therapists.

I completed over 3,000 hours of graduate and post-graduate clinical training prior to licensure which took place in inpatient, outpatient and non-profit health care settings. I have been in practice for over 14 years.

I am a Clinical Member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). I previously served on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Chapter of CAMFT representing pre-licensed students and therapists.

To provide the best services possible, I continue my learning through reading, continuing education courses, conferences, and consultations with colleagues.
